Oliver hat im November 2007 zusammen mit Stefan Tönz, Lars Anders Tomter und Christian Poltéra eine kleine Klavierquartett-Tournée durch die Schweiz unternommen. Alle Konzerte waren ausverkauft (Kammermusik lebt als Totgesagte doch länger!). Das Bild zeigt den Dirigenten André Prévin im Small Talk mit Stefan, Christian und mir nach dem Konzert in Rapperswil.
In June 2007, Oliver has been awarded with a substantial "Beitrag an das künstlerische Schaffen" (financial contribution to the artistic work) by the Aargauer Kuratorium. Here's the official statement of the jury (English translation coming soon): Sich als Schweizer Interpret auf dem internationalen Parkett durchsetzen? Nicht einfach. Sich als Schweizer Pianist durchsetzen? Noch schwieriger, bei aller Konkurrenz, nicht nur aus Russland oder den asiatischen Ländern. Oliver Schnyder hat es geschafft. Nicht mit Tastendonner, sondern mit feinfühliger gestalterischer Intelligenz, einer wie selbstverständlich anmutenden pianistischen Technik und einer Persönlichkeit, die das Werk über das Präsentieren dieser Fähigkeiten stellt. Was nicht etwa heisst, dass er sich in falscher Bescheidenheit übt, dazu ist er künstlerisch zu gut. Aber es gelingt ihm wie nicht all zu vielen, das Pianistische dem Stilistischen anzupassen, Farben, Lautstärken, Agogik, Anschlag, Timing jeweils aus der Musik zu entwickeln statt ihr überzustülpen, und das in einem breit gefächerten Repertoire. So verfügt er über eine grosse Palette an Möglichkeiten, von stürmisch bis äusserst zurückhaltend. Immer aber, und das zeichnet sein Spiel in besonderem Mass aus, ist eine Schlichtheit spürbar, eine konzentrierte Innigkeit, die in ihrem grundsätzlichen ‹lieber weniger als mehr› unmittelbar berührt. Jetzt will Oliver Schnyder seine hervorragenden Fähigkeiten als Musiker in den Dienst eines neuen Klavierkonzerts des mit ihm befreundeten jungen Schweizer Komponisten David Philip Hefti stellen. Das Aargauer Kuratorium honoriert diese Zusammenarbeit Interpret-Komponist und die künstlerische Entwicklung Oliver Schnyders mit einem Beitrag an das künstlerische Schaffen.

Oliver gave his debut in Chicago in April. He played a live solo recital for Classical WFMT and gave a master class for students at the Chicago Music Institute. Also, he played a duo recital with great Norwegian violinist Henning Kraggerud at Nichols Concert Hall. (Picture was taken from the top of Sears Tower on a free day.)
Oliver's recording of Schubert's Sonata in A major D. 664 has been one of six different interpretations to be compared at the "Diskothek im Zwei" talkshow on Swiss radio DRS 2 in April, 2007. Along with Mitsuko Uchida's recording it was considered best interpretation by the experts (PDF-File). It can be ordered directly under "recordings/order cd".
On November 20, 22 and 23, 2006, Oliver did another recording session at the Zurich Radiostudio together with the recording engineer and production manager Andreas Werner. Works for solo piano by Frédéric Chopin have been recorded for a new CD (SACD sound technology)
Concert & Talkshow, hosted by Ludwig Hartmann at NDR Hamburg, with Sol Gabetta, Cellist. The event took place on August 18, 2006 and has been broadcasted live through the internet.
Oliver was on tour in China from 11 to 30 May. He played in several of China's greatest venues. His recital tour led him from Beijing, where he played in the Forbidden City Concert Hall, to Tianjing, Tayuan, Qingdao, Changsha, Guangzhou, Suzhou, Hangzhou and Shaoxing. Please check out Oliver's Newsletter # 2 for more and many personal details (German only). The tour drew strong interest in the media. The concert in Tayuan was recorded live for TV and has reached millions of viewers.
On April 13th and 14th, Oliver recorded piano and chamber music by the Swiss composer David Philip Hefti for the Telos label (at the Zurich Radio Studio, in a co-production with Swiss Radio DRS). He recorded the trio "Melencolia" for flute, percussion and piano together with Philippe Racine and Matthias Würsch, "Miroirs" for violin and piano together with Stefan Tönz, and then also the new solo piano piece "Sound of Shadows", which was dedicated to him, and two short Albumblätter "Dedicationes" for piano solo. "Sound of Shadows" has meanwhile been given its world première by Oliver in the Concert Hall of the Forbidden City in Beijing, at the opening of this May's extended recital tour in China.
